Expedition Alaska 2015 - The Last Frontier - has become a Qualifier event of the Adventure Racing (AR) World Series, the premier circuit of endurance races held annually across the planet.

AR World Series Director Craig Bycroft said "Expedition Alaska brings to the series an incredible destination for an expedition race and I am excited to have them on board."

Expedition Alaska is scheduled from 28 June - 4 July 2015. It will take 30 teams on a 500km journey across glaciers, down white water rivers, along rugged coast lines, up and down ropes and over towering mountains. It will be an epic adventure on the top of the world. On offer to the winning teams is a share of $10,000 prize money.

Expedition Alaska Race Director David Adlard, said "Alaska is truly one of the most magnificent places on earth and we have prepared a veritable "highlight reel" for the lucky teams competing - it will be one of the most scenic, memorable and magnificent racing experiences teams will ever have! Along the way, we will be paying homage to the traditional Iditarod and the brave souls who made this a lifeline to Alaska, and we can promise that the quality of the adventure you will experience will be second to none."

Registrations for Expedition Alaska are now open and are limited to a maximum of 30 teams.

Captain of team Yogaslackers Jason Magness said "We have attended the other expeditions hosted by the Expedition Alaska crew, and the best thing I can say is they "get it:" the sport, the energy, the "epicness" of it all. They have given us true adventure, amazing logistics, perhaps the best support of any race we have ever done, and without a doubt, the best finish line experience ever - we are so excited to be going up to Alaska for what is sure to be one of the coolest races anywhere!"

The Adventure Racing (AR) World Series unites in competition the worlds best endurance athletes at premiere Qualifier events around the globe. The top two teams at each of these races gain a coveted position on the start line of the annual pinnacle of the sport, the AR World Championship.

ADVENTURE RACING is the ultimate race of human endurance. Teams of four athletes race non stop, day and night, through courses up to 800km in length. Each course is a unique journey, including legs of mountain biking, trail running, kayaking and rope work. Teams must navigate using map and compass through remote wilderness checkpoints. They battle not only other teams, but extreme fatigue, sleep deprivation and unpredictable weather. If one team member quits, the entire team is unclassified. Often just reaching the finish line is a victory.
